Booking a charter in a place you've never fished shouldn't feel like a leap of faith. Here's exactly how our signature trip works — no surprises, no fine print.
The deal, in one line
$720 for the whole boat. Five hours, private, up to 6 guests — from $120 per person with a full group. Captain, all tackle and bait, ice, water and soft drinks included. Book online with instant confirmation; pay securely; done.
From the dock to the fish
We meet at Plaza Resort Marina in Kralendijk in the morning, when the light is low and the bite is at its best. The run to fishing water is about fifteen minutes — Bonaire's wall drops past 1,000 meters close to shore, so you spend the day fishing, not commuting.
From there the day reads like the water tells it: trolling the drop-off for wahoo, tuna, barracuda and mahi-mahi, switching to jigging or live bait when we mark fish — with a real shot at marlin or sailfish in season. The captain and mate handle the technical side; you take the rod when something hits.
What you bring
- Reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat
- A light jacket for the morning run
- Your STINAPA nature tag ($40/person/calendar year, arranged in advance at bonairenaturefee.org — mandatory by law for everyone on the water)
- Motion-sickness tablet an hour before departure if you're prone — though the gyro stabilizer does most of that work for you
Back at the dock: the best part
Fish cleaning and filleting is included. Tuna, wahoo and mahi are yours to keep; billfish are released as a rule. Staying at Plaza? Hand your fillets to the kitchen — 2-Michelin-star chef René Brienen's team, our live-cooking chef or the sushi chef will turn your catch into dinner the same day.
